East Coast

The east coast is ideal for even the most novice boat handler. It offers countless choices of small bays, beaches and picturesque harbours that are waiting to be explored. EastCoasteast-coast-a

At the northernmost point of the island is the stunning bay of Lakka, with its beautiful turquoise blue lagoon. There are many dining out options and several bars and taverns along the water’s edge, where you can sit for a lunch time drink or a sundowner and be captivated by the view and observe some of the impressive yachts and sailing boats moored there.

LakkaThen moving towards the south, you will encounter three small serene coastal beaches Orkos, Lakkos and Arkoudaki before arriving at Manadendri, the only organized beach on the island, which is very popular with children and teenagers. Here you have the options of dining and refreshments, you can enjoy the music and water sports, such as canoes, bicycles and windsurfing; there is even a swimming pool. Finally, and very close to Manadendri you will find Glyfada and Phykia; just before reaching the magnificent and uniquely beautiful harbour of Loggos.

Leaving the path from Loggos and on your way to Gaios, you will come across Levrecchio beach and the tavern Mpouloukos situated under the olive trees. This is situated right next to Marmari beach, with turquoise waters ideal for snorkeling and observing the colourful fish. This is a long beach, which has natural shade from the olive trees that reach out to the sea, perfect for those that like to read and relax.

Alati, Kaki Langada and Kloni Gouli are three small beaches just before the natural port of Gaios. You will also see the island of Ipapanti with the small monastery of St. Nicholas and the castle hidden in the pines, forming a unique channel of incredible beauty in Greece.  Gaios is the capital of the island and offers many choices for those who choose to stop there for a while.

Leaving Gaios, we pass the beaches Gianna, Aftia the donkey and Balo to reach the southernmost tip of the island and the natural harbour of Ozia at Mongonissi. A popular beach with for families as it has very shallow water and yellow sand where the children can safely play and enjoy swimming, eating and drinking. Right next to Mongonissi, you will find Kaltsionisi, together forming a uniquely beautiful channel with turquoise waters. You will also see the picturesque church of Saint Spyridon beside the waves where many choose to anchor and enjoy the magic and tranquility of the landscape.
